Tartu bike share system has taken another step closer to meeting the everyday mobility needs of city residents. A new bike share station is now open in Roheline Park, at the Gardest entrance. The year-round bike share service offers a convenient, fast and environmentally friendly way to get around, especially in a rapidly developing urban area.
Along with new developments, the need for diverse mobility connections has also grown. The expansion of the bike share system to this area is no coincidence, but part of a broader city vision.
“The City of Tartu aims to create bike share stations everywhere the city expands. The goal is to provide residents with good mobility options using different modes of transport, including bike share bicycles,” explains Roman Meeksa, Head of Urban Transport for the City of Tartu. “Roheline Park has grown rapidly in recent years and this is clearly reflected in feedback from bike share users in the area as well. Equally important is the city’s desire to maintain good relations with local entrepreneurs, with whose support this station was also built.”
Growing interest and usage are not limited to the Tartu bike share system alone, this is also confirmed by statistics on the use of city bus connections. “From my point of view, this is a very promising area that is being developed to a high standard. Public transport is also being taken into account so that the area is attractive and accessible,” said Meeksa.
The new Tartu bike share station in Roheline Park is a good example of how the city, businesses and sustainable mobility can develop together. The better and more diverse the mobility options, the more livable our city becomes.
