Roheline Park buildings were awarded BREEAM “Excellent” level, the first of its kind in Estonia.

On Friday, the BREEAM “Excellent” plaques were ceremoniously presented to the first newly completed buildings in Estonia to receive this rating. The plaques can be viewed in the lobbies of the Roheline 16/18 buildings located in Roheline Park in Tartu.

The high level of the BREEAM New Construction certification takes into account the building’s entire life-cycle impact on both the environment and users — from the design and construction phases through building use and up to the end of the building’s lifespan. Obtaining a new construction certification is considerably more complex than certifying an existing building; however, the certification remains valid for the entire lifetime of the building.

An important part of the BREEAM certificate is also sustainable energy solutions. In line with this, ENEFIT AS shared its vision by establishing a new, weatherproof charging hub in Roheline Park — the largest of its kind in Southern Estonia.

Raul Jeets, the developer of Roheline Park, emphasizes the impact of cooperation on the entire area. “Cooperation with Enefit improves the quality of the area’s infrastructure and supports our vision of Roheline Park as a modern and sustainable living and business environment.”

CEO of Enefit, Kelli Toss-Kaasik, highlights the high-quality cooperation with Roheline Park: “For us, Roheline Park is a workplace in Southern Estonia and a forward-looking innovation hub. We are pleased to be a partner in bringing Roheline Park’s vision to life.”

However, the vision of Roheline Park extends beyond just a few buildings — as a comprehensive living and business environment functioning as an attractive urban space, it will in the future be shaped by people who value these principles.

Rain Koort, a representative of Roheline Park, describes the vision as follows: “We are not just creating buildings, we are shaping an integrated, high-quality urban environment where businesses and people can grow, develop and together create a better future.”

A modern and high-quality urban environment also means a multi-level view over the entire city. A building permit has been granted for the construction of Tartu’s tallest building, considered the heart of Roheline Park, and construction is set to begin in 2026.
